Practice Update: Dr. Mahendru Speaks At India Pain Update Conference

Fellowship-trained in pain management, Dr. Vivek Mahendru is a pain management physician at Pain Specialists of Austin. Having completed multiple fellowships in pain therapy from prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School and Texas Tech University, Dr. Mahendru’s knowledge and experience in the pain management field has led his work to become widely known. He is often asked to publish his findings in medical journals, and lecture at national events to share his knowledge about pain management.

On November 4th and 5th, 2017 the India Pain Update conference took place in Dehli, India, where an elite panel of international and national pain management physicians discussed the latest trends and topics related to the field of pain medicine. Pain Specialists of Austin’s own pain management specialist, Dr. Vivek Mahendru, was invited to be part of this elite panel of international and national pain physicians. It was two packed days of academic and interactive discussions and deliberations on the current practice and challenges of pain management.  Dr. Mahendru gave lectures and live demonstrations on the following topics and trends relating to pain medicine: 

  • The evolution of Neuro-Modulation, and the use of Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulation for treatment of chronic neuropathic pain. This is a new innovation that has had proven success in treating chronic pain.
  • The importance of evidence-based medicine, and what it specifically says for pain specialists managing back pain.
  • The experience working in a pain management practice in the United States, and how the latest trends specific to this country compare to those around the globe.
