Letter of Protection

If you’ve been in an auto accident or suffered another type of personal injury and need medical care, you may need a letter of protection.

If your auto insurance or personal injury benefits will not cover all of your medical expenses, or your doctor doesn’t accept auto accident or personal injury claims, you can ask your attorney for a letter of protection.

A letter of protection (LOP) is a contract between you, your lawyer, and your medical provider that allows you to receive medical care while your case is pending. When your lawsuit is settled, your provider will be paid directly from the settlement funds. However, if there is no money recovered from the case, you will be responsible for paying all medical bills related to your treatment.

If you are injured and cannot work, or you don’t have the funds to pay for the medical care you need, Pain Specialists of America will accept a letter of protection from your attorney. Call us for more details.
